Eau brouillée

Possible causes

Cloudy water, preventing you from seeing the bottom of your pool, is often caused by the following factors:

  • High level of suspended solids
  • Lacking sanitizer (chlorine)
  • High pH (reduces chlorine efficiency and can cause cloudy water)
  • Filtration problem (caked sand)

Suggested solutions

  • High level of suspended solids: Add 260 mL of Liquid Clarifier per 10,000 L of water or place two pouches of Premeasured Clarifier in a stick in the skimmer per 75,000 L of water.
  • Lacking sanitizer (chlorine): Add 350 g of Shock Treatment per 10,000 L of water.
  • High pH: Use pH- to lower pH to 7.2 - 7.8.
  • Filtration problem: Make sure the skimmer and the pump baskets are not blocked, and the filter works well. Make sure to clean the sand in the filter by using Sand Filter Cleaner at the beginning and the end of season.

Preventive maintenance

  • High level of suspended solids: Each week, add 30 mL of Liquid Clarifier per 10,000 L of water or place one pouch of Premeasured Clarifier in a Stick in the skimmer per 75,000 L of water.
  • Lacking sanitizer (chlorine): Maintain sanitizer level at 1 - 3 ppm at all times.
  • High pH: Maintain pH at 7.2 - 7.8 at all times.
  • Filtration problem: Make sure the baskets are always empty and the filter works well. Backwash when needed.

  * In order to maintain clear and sparkling water during the swimming season, make sure to have your pool water analyzed regularly by your specialized retailer to adjust and maintain the following parameters: total alkalinity, calcium hardness and stabilizer. Ideally, the week following the opening of your pool, in early June and late July.
